Pieter Howes – Director and Founding Member

Pieter Howes (née Bosch Botha) is a prominent South African activist, writer, director, and actor. Pieter has extensive training in Drama, and is currently reading for a BA in Politics, Philosophy and Economics. Pieter enjoys writing about Politics, Society, Environment and Current Affairs. Pieter is an activist for equality, a grower of trees from seed, and a feeder of two cats and a husband.

 

 

Before his foray into activism, Pieter Howes was a well-known writer, actor, director and producer. He played a lead role in the popular SABC 2 television series, Soul Buddyz, directed by Bobby Heaney. In 2009 he portrayed the controversial character, Lammetjie Koekemoer, on KykNet’s popular daily soap opera, Villa Rosa. He also had guest appearances on e.tv’s soap opera, Backstage, and the SABC2 sitcom, Askies!. In 2013 he appeared in Nicholas Spagnoletti’s play, Civil Parting, which was performed in Ireland at the International Dublin Gay Theatre Festival and later won the Standard Bank Ovation Award at the National Arts Festival in Grahamstown.
